The five-star Furama Resort Danang today has been acknowledged as one of the 20 most outstanding architectural works in Vietnam during the country’s “doi moi” process selected by the Vietnam Architecture Association.

The Vietnam Architecture Association’s criteria was to select architectural and artistic works suitable with modern architecture trends, works making break-through changes to the urban image and living environment, improving people’s material and spiritual lives as well as the urban and rural environment. 

Mr Duncan MacLean, General Manager of Furama Resort Danang, said: “It’s a great honour for us to receive this award. When initially designed it has become evident that the Architects were in fact designing a Resort “Well ahead of its Time”.

Designed by award-winning Australian architects, Denton Corker & Marshall, with interior design by Hong Kong’s Hirsch Bedner & Associates, the Furama Resort enjoys a stunning beachfront location on one of the most luxurious beaches in the world voted by Forbes magazine.

The resort’s 198 guest rooms and suites occupy two four-storey wings overlooking the ocean and China Beach on one side and a freshwater swimming pool lagoon and manicured tropical gardens on the other. The main lobby, function rooms, restaurants, bars and service areas occupy several two and three storey pavilions surrounding a spacious courtyard.

The restaurants and lounges are open and airy with polished timber or natural stone floors that offset the cool natural fabrics and cane furnishings. Vietnamese artefacts and furniture enhance the colonial setting to create the resort’s distinctive Asian character.

“Working in such a well designed property is a true pleasure for me not only from the visual perspective but also from an operational perspective. Every little detail, both Front of House and Back of House has been carefully planned and designed. Credit must be given to the Architects and the Interior Designers for their tremendous design achievements  while credit should also be extended to the Team at Furama who have done such a superb job in maintaining this magnificent property,” Mr Maclean concluded.
