The central city of Da Nang has overtaken HCMC and Ha Noi, Viet Nam's two biggest cities, to become the only Vietnamese candidate listed in the world's top 10 worth-living destinations for expats in 2018, according to a survey conducted by Live and Invest Overseas travel magazine.

CONSIDERABLE GROWTH IN FOREIGN TOURIST ARRIVALS TO DANANG IN 2017

According to Danang municipal Department of Tourism, the city has seen a significant growth in the number of foreign tourist arrivals in 2017.

It is estimated that the total number of visitors coming to Danang city has reached 6.6 million in 2017, rising by 19% compared to 2016 and achieving 104.8% of this year's target.

The total number of foreign visitor arrivals is expected to have increased 36.8% compared to 2016 to 2.3 million this year, achieving 114.7% of 2017's target. About 4.3 million domestic guests are predicted to have visited Danang in 2017, rising by 11.3% against 2016, obtaining 100.1% of this year's target.

Total tourism revenue was estimated at VND 19,403 billion, up by 20.6% year-on-year, achieving 104.9% of this year's target.

Danang also witnessed an impressive increase in tourist arrivals by air which stood at 1,580,300, risen by 74.4% compared to 2016 while by-car visitors via Laos and Thailand were estimated at 14,120. Cruise arrivals via Tien Sa port totalled 120,000 guests with 78 trips, an increase of 46% against 2016 and ship arrivals are predicted to have reached 355,000 guests, surged by 70.7% year-on-year.
