WATER SAFETY ACTIVITIES FOR NHA TRANG CHILDREN BY FURAMA RESORT DANANG

July 2015 – Mr. Dang Van Hien, a senior Furama Life Guard Staff who being granted with Australia Surf Life Saving Certificate, has just travelled to Nha Trang to assist the Khanh Hoa Province, to develop lifeguard skills with a group of Australian and Vietnamese trainers. This was Mr Hien's second visit to Nha Trang as part of the skills development program for public lifeguards.

On this latest four day visit, Mr. Hien and the training team also ran a children's water safety activity. The Nha Trang activity was attended by over 30 children.  He showed the local lifeguards how to teach children swimming and water safety based on the Australian model of junior lifesaving "Nippers" that focuses on water skill development through games. The highlight for most children on the day was being taught how to paddle the "nipper boards", a special surfboard made for children. These lessons provided useful water safety knowledge for children.

"I dream of a day when accidental drowning deaths in Vietnam can be reduced or eliminated and I am determined to do something to make this dream a reality", said Mr. Hien.

Furama's commitment to water safety has been well documented over the years. The resort has had a relationship with life-saving bodies in Australia since 1997 and Furama's Lifeguard team are trained to International standards. Each year Furama hosts lifeguard training for other resorts and hotels in Danang and Quang Nam province. The team would like to help not only the local people but to people of the whole central coast of Vietnam.
